Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Gantry app for iPhone handles information. The short version: Gantry doesn’t run its own accounts or servers — we don’t collect, sell, or track your personal data. Connecting to your OBU is handled by LTA’s official SDK, which communicates with LTA’s systems as described below.

What Gantry does

Gantry is a companion app for the Gantry Display, a screen for your car. The app connects to your vehicle’s On-Board Unit (OBU) over Bluetooth using LTA’s official OBU API/SDK, reads ERP road-pricing charges, card deductions, card balance, and road/traffic messages, and relays the minimal information needed to the display over Bluetooth.

Information processed on your device

The following is read from your OBU and processed locally on your iPhone. Gantry uses it to drive the app’s screens, your Activity history, widgets, and the connected display, and stores some of it on your device. Gantry does not send this data to servers we operate. Separately, LTA’s SDK may transmit certain OBU and transaction data to LTA to provide connectivity — see “Network connections” below.

  • ERP charges and cashcard deductions
  • Cashcard balance
  • Speed, speed-limit signs, and road/traffic alert messages from the OBU
  • Display pairing details and your display settings (brightness, theme, layout, and similar)

Some of this data (for example your Activity feed and last-known balance) is stored on your device so it persists between trips, and is shared with the Gantry Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets on your own device via a private app group. It never leaves your iPhone through the app.

Device permissions we request

  • Bluetooth — to connect to your OBU and to the Gantry Display, and to keep that link active in the background while you drive.
  • Camera — used only to scan the pairing QR code shown on the display. Camera images are processed on-device to read the code and are not stored or transmitted.

Network connections

The Gantry app itself makes only one kind of internet request: downloading display firmware updates from our content-delivery host. These requests fetch a firmware file and version manifest and do not include any personal, vehicle, or OBU data. As with any internet request, our hosting provider may process standard technical information such as your IP address to deliver the file; we do not use it to identify you.

Connecting to your OBU relies on LTA’s official OBU SDK, which is included in the app. In addition to communicating with the OBU over Bluetooth, this SDK connects to LTA’s own servers to authenticate and enable OBU services, and may transmit OBU and transaction data to LTA as part of providing that connectivity. This processing is carried out by LTA and is governed by LTA’s own terms and privacy policy; we recommend reviewing LTA’s privacy notice for details on how they handle this data.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t require an account or ask you to sign in.
  • We don’t collect your data on our servers, and we don’t sell or rent it.
  • We don’t use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.
  • The display never connects to your vehicle directly — only your phone does.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored on your device, you are in control of it. Deleting the Gantry app from your iPhone removes the app’s locally stored data, including your Activity history and saved display settings.

Children’s privacy

Gantry is intended for drivers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
